Craft that has changed my life
My name is Natalia and I’m a designer, maker, and curator behind DodoCharms, a home-based studio in Moncton, New Brunswick. I was born in Ukraine and have been living there until August 2017 when my husband Andrii and I moved to Canada.
My jewelry craft obsession story began in 2012 when Andrii and I came by a jewelry supplies shop. I always enjoyed jewelry but considered it was too complicated to make something by myself. However, just for fun, we bought a few beads, pins, and ear hooks, and the next day it turned to new beautiful earrings. Moreover, I fell in love with jewelry making.
We began to learn the process of jewelry craft, tried different materials and techniques and a few months later took part in our first craft show which turned out to be a success that inspired us to work more on our new hobby.
Soon after Andrii fell in love with the leathercraft and I continued to work with jewelry-making, however, we kept being one team. We created the name "Dodo" for our brand, traveled to the different parts of our country to take part in the craft fairs, started cooperation with retail gift shops in Ukraine, worked every day inspiring each other. And growing our small business we even didn't realize how it changed our relations. Finally, we become not only a team of two craftsmen but in summer 2013 we've got married and in 2019 became the parents to the most precious little girl Anne.
